I took a new job in the last year and now find myself having to say no a lot. I really don’t like it: the saying no thing, I mean. Contrary to what people probably think, I have never enjoyed, or been comfortable with being a no-man. I want people to like me. But people tend not to like the somebody that has to tell them no. Only thing I think we humans hate more than being told what to do, is being told what not to do.
But I’m learning that we all have different goals and purposes. One corporation, competing priorities. The paradoxical push and pull somehow gets us to where we need to be.
And this isn’t just a workplace thing. It’s really a life thing. The push and pull and conflicts of life, while stressful, are unavoidable and absolutely necessary.
