It’s been an unusually dry and hot summer for us here in Oregon, when we get even the slightest sprinkle, it’s a welcome refreshing change! I’ve always loved that fresh rain smell in the summer.

It makes me think though; we always equate cloudy skies with the bad times and sunshine with the good times. But just like the weather, so it is in life: we really need both. And while we don’t typically love it when the bad times come, it’s almost always good for growth. I don’t say this lightly like “suck it up if things are bad.” No–bad times are real, and they’re so hard, but the sun always rises, even if it’s behind the clouds for a little while.
