This is a remake of something I originally did for inktober , I can’t remember which year. The prompt was “shadow”.

C.S. Lewis once said, “Since it is so likely that (children) will meet cruel enemies, let them at least have heard of brave knights and heroic courage.”

This quote came to mind as I drew this.

Today though, I’m thinking of something a little different, though similar.

No matter how old you are, if you are still breathing, you have a future. You don’t know what that future holds. It could be filled with difficulties, beasts, and challenges; it could be filled with easy roads, sunshine and lollipops. It’s probably a mixture of both. Life often has different seasons: highs and lows.

Our days pass like a shadow, and we ourselves are only a shadow of who and what we might be weeks, months, or years from now.

Let us continue looking forward and not backward. Let us train like warriors today to face tomorrow’s challenges.

This looks a little different for everyone.

For some, simply getting out of bed is a victorious step toward a new day, and more courageous than we’ll ever understand. For some, it might be taking a whole new, frightening direction in life. For some, it might be just staying the course and learning to be patient and kind in your circumstances.

Whatever it is for you, I hope that you can have courage to live, courage to fight, and courage to know you can ask for help when you don’t.
