One of the saddest realities of adulthood is the complete absence of take-backs. Once words are spoken, they are heard. Once words are heard, they are felt. Once words are felt, they are remembered.
Sure, we have second chances. We have opportunities to make things right. We have apologies and forgiveness and hand shakes and settlements, but we never have the complete reversal of things already said and done.
Ever wanted to throw yourself away and start over? Ever wanted to erase the past?
And you’re not alone. Neither can any one else.
Perhaps it is good to remember this the next time you are the wronged one. You will definitely be wronged again. You have also wronged others. You’ve wanted a chance to start fresh. Allow others the same.
Maybe we can make take backs for real after all.
