I’m no folklore expert, but it seems like every time a fairy comes into the story, it’s because someone wishes they were something different. Can’t say I blame them for wanting to be different — I’ve wanted it many times too. I thought by this age I’d be pretty content, but I still sometimes wish I could have a wish or three. But when I’m in my right mind I realize, being who I am is exactly what I need to be. Sure, I’ll grow and I’ll change, but it likely won’t be a change into the thing I wish for. It’ll probably be something better.
