There’s something about stories that is so much more important than just entertainment. C.S. Lewis, in defense of fairy tales once said, “Since it is so likely that [children] will meet cruel enemies, let them at least have heard of brave knights and heroic courage”.
There’s something in us that yearns for victory, courage, redemption, and love. To see these elements in stories over and over again, to relate to the characters, no matter how different they actually are from us, I believe awakens those qualities in us, and help us to see them, hope for them, and expect them, in the every day.
